The challenge

The laminate store needed to prepare its assortment for Yandex Market and make the product information suitable for comparison on the marketplace. Flooring presented a particular challenge because customers compared a surface area requirement with products sold in packs, while similar collection names could conceal different specifications. The assignment concerned preparing and publishing marketplace listings. We focused on catalogue data, the relationship between product variants, the clarity of purchasing units and the way the store's offer would be represented in marketplace listings.

Where we started

We began by reviewing the product data available for export: names, collections, dimensions, package information, images and offer conditions. Similar items were compared to identify where attributes or naming could cause confusion. We then mapped the store's catalogue fields to the information needed for publication on the marketplace. This established which records required clarification before publication and which recurring issues could be corrected through consistent rules across a product group.

Problems we solved

Collection names did not provide enough product detail

Before

The marketplace needed an identifiable product variant. Collection descriptions alone could not distinguish the exact finish, dimensions and packaging being offered.

What we changed

We organised product names, manufacturer data, images and characteristics so they referred to the same item and used consistent parameter formats.

Marketplace listings and shop details were inconsistent

Before

A customer had to see consistent price, availability and purchase terms across the offer and the shop. Mismatches would disrupt the decision to buy.

What we changed

We checked the product and seller information before publication and made ongoing data consistency part of the catalogue preparation.

What we did

Standardised product names and specifications

We brought product names and specifications into a consistent structure, preserving the distinctions between brand, collection and individual variant. Important attributes were placed in dedicated fields instead of being left only in descriptive text. Similar items were reviewed together so repeated naming patterns did not hide a difference in dimensions or finish. This prepared the catalogue for a more accurate representation within the marketplace's product structure.

Clarified pack sizes, coverage and pricing

We checked how the catalogue described a pack, the area it covered and the unit to which the displayed price applied. These values had to remain consistent between the source record and the marketplace offer. Descriptions clarified the purchasing unit where necessary. This was especially important for similar products with different package contents, where an attractive displayed amount could be misleading if the customer compared unlike units.

Prepared and checked product listing data

We adjusted the catalogue export so product identifiers, categories, images and offer fields were transmitted consistently. Checks covered missing values and differences between the source catalogue and the data prepared for publication. After publication, we reviewed the selected published offers and corrected issues within the supplied information. This connected catalogue preparation with the offer customers actually saw on Yandex Market.

Kept marketplace listings in sync with the catalogue

We reviewed the handling of price and availability changes so marketplace information could follow the store's current offer. Repeated corrections were addressed at the catalogue or export level wherever possible. Product images and variant details were checked alongside commercial fields, helping avoid a technically complete listing that described the wrong item. This created a more manageable basis for maintaining the published product range as individual products changed.

The four-month project covered preparation for Yandex Market and placement on the platform, with product data and entry into this sales channel at its centre.

Key decisions

The difficult part was keeping comparisons meaningful when the same product type could be represented through different units and naming conventions. Correctly transferring a field was not enough if the resulting offer left the buyer unsure what the price actually covered. We resolved this by checking product identity, package contents and price units together. Similar variants were reviewed as a group, and recurring errors were corrected at their source. This approach kept marketplace preparation focused on accurate product representation rather than treating successful upload alone as a finished result.

What changed

The store received a catalogue prepared for listing on Yandex Market, with consistent product names, specifications and units of sale. The work connected source data, export and the visible marketplace offer. It also provided a basis for maintaining the assortment, so later product changes could be checked as part of the same information flow.
