English tutor

The challenge

An English tutor needed a focused website that explained the teaching offer before a prospective learner made contact. The page had to answer practical questions about learning goals, lesson format and the first conversation without making unsupported promises about progress. We treated the website as a personal professional service: the tutor's approach should remain recognisable, while visitors should understand whether their request matched the available tuition.

Where we started

We began by separating information about the teacher from information about the learner's decision. Professional background, lesson organisation and learning objectives played different roles and needed different placement. We then grouped search intentions around the service rather than building pages for every possible phrase. The prototype followed a simple reading sequence: recognise the relevant request, understand the approach, check the conditions and ask a specific question.

Problems we solved

Different learning goals needed different routes

Before

Adults, teenagers and people looking for conversation practice needed different information. A general invitation to learn English left the choice to a private conversation.

What we changed

We separated individual lessons, exam preparation and the club. The opening screen offered distinct routes to a trial lesson and Speaking Club; the quiz helped visitors choose.

A quick launch still needed useful detail

Before

The one-week schedule made it essential to agree the page structure early, including teaching credentials, prices and practical questions.

What we changed

We brought course formats, qualifications, reviews and FAQs into the page plan, then added metadata, social previews and structured data during development.

What we did

Organised lessons around learners’ goals

We organised the service description around situations in which a person sought English lessons. General statements about teaching were replaced with explanations of how a learning request was discussed and translated into lesson priorities. Formats were kept distinct where they affected the student's choice. This gave the tutor a clear presentation without inventing examination credentials, specialist programmes or additional services that were not part of the offer.

Introduced the tutor and her teaching approach

The introduction connected professional information with the way lessons were organised. We avoided leaving the teacher's profile as a detached biography that did not help a learner choose. Supporting sections explained the communication process and what could be clarified before starting. The design gave text enough space to be read comfortably, with a clear hierarchy between the main offer, supporting details and the action to contact the tutor.

The club section explained participant level, group size, timetable, price and preparation. The teacher section included the supplied education details and IELTS 8.0 result.

Optimised the website for search

We prepared page titles, headings and descriptive content needed to identify the service accurately. The geographical context was expressed through relevant service information rather than repeated place names throughout the copy. Internal sections followed a logical hierarchy, and essential text remained available in the page itself. Mobile layout, link behaviour and contact access were checked together so that search optimisation supported an ordinary visitor's reading experience.

Made the first contact straightforward

We placed contact options where a learner had enough context to start a conversation. The invitation focused on discussing a learning request rather than promising a result before the teacher knew the student's situation. Forms and messages were checked for clarity, including the next step after sending an enquiry. We also prepared content blocks for later editing so that changes to lesson conditions would not require reconstructing the page.

The HTML included Person, ProfessionalService and Course structured data. WhatsApp and Telegram provided direct contact routes after the lesson information.

Key decisions

The challenge was keeping a small website informative without expanding it into an artificial catalogue of lessons. Individual tuition depends on the learner’s goals and circumstances, so excessive detail can create expectations the page cannot responsibly guarantee. We concentrated on decisions that could be explained clearly before contact. Questions requiring the tutor's assessment were left as topics for a conversation, with no invented claims about student outcomes.

What changed

The project produced a coherent website for a personal teaching practice, with a clear offer and an accessible route to contact. SEO optimisation, page design and content were developed together rather than added as separate layers. The result was a practical website for presenting the tutor's work and keeping lesson information current, while allowing the first conversation to address the learner's actual goals and circumstances.
